The black fifth issue opens with an in-depth history of New Zealand writer and intellectual Bill Sutch. One of the nation’s top public servants during the Cold War era, Sutch was dogged by New Zealand, British and American security intelligence agencies and later tried unsuccessfully as a spy. The fifth issue of White Fungus contains interviews with the Korean New Zealand digital artist Hye Rim Lee and New Zealand improv and experimental music pioneer Jeff Henderson. There is an article about UK electro producer and DJ, J Saul Kane (Depth Charge, Octagon Man). There are gruesome photographs by Louise Clifton and a prickly short story by Oakland writer Ernie Kozar.
